Adult Survivors of Childhood Abandonment

Adult Survivors of Childhood Abandonment Support Group (ASCA) is a Support Group that was created based upon the personal and professional experiences of Louis H. Henderson.

His first encounter with the foster care system and recognition of needed services was during the years that he spent as a foster child. The missing component between the young Mr. Henderson and the professional man occurred immediately after he transitioned from the system without any further support.

Through his teachings and the day to day experiences of the youth in care at NAFFCCA we know that it is imminent that we provide continuous support and services beyond ‘emancipation’. The Support Group meets weekly to assist adults with the healing process of being abandoned, and to serve as a catalyst in making recommendations, lobbying and providing better services to the children currently in care.
